Getting Ready For College

As school is winding down I am starting to think more and more about college. I already know that I am going to a Junior College in Arizona playing softball and maby volleyball. However, I don't know which one and I have no idea what I want to do. Even though I don't know what I want to be yet I can still start saving and earning money. For example, there are three scholarships I am applying for right now and next month there will be even more. First I have to fill out the application, then I have to get a teacher or coach to right something nice about me, and finally I have to right an essay on why I should get the scholarship. It is a lot of work and I am already stressed in school and sports. I cant wait until I am in college but getting there is tough.

THS Reflections

As I am getting further into my volleyball season school is getting harder. It seems as if all I can think about is going to Vegas and winning state. However, my goal is to try extra hard in everything, especially English, and get good grades. Then, when we do go to Vegas I will not have anything to worry about as far as school. I am starting to realize that school gets harder and harder and the only way you can succeed is to try harder than ever.

End of an Era

Until I read this article, http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44794300/ns/business-us_business/#.To3L2Jsr2dB I had know idea what kind of importance Steve Jobs had on my life. He was a remarkable man who changed the world in more ways than one. Steve Jobs is the Chairman of the Board of Apple, which he co-founded in 1976. Apple is leading the consumer technology world with its revolutionary iPhone and App Store, its family of iPod media players and iTunes media store, and its Mac computers and iLife and iWork application suites. Apple recently introduced iPad 2 which is defining the future of mobile media and computing devices.
Steve also co-founded and was the CEO of Pixar Animation Studios, which created some of the most successful and beloved animated films of all time including Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars and Ratatouille. Pixar merged with The Walt Disney Company in 2006 and Steve now serves on Disney's board of directors. He was an incredibly smart man and will be forever remembered.

Modern Job Hunting

It is crazy how much the world has changed. Today it is almost easier to get a job using social media than doing it the old fashioned way. I read about ways you can use social media to get a job and found a couple helpful articles,http://newgradlife.blogspot.com/2009/10/get-job-with-social-media-2.html and
http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-use-social-media-to-get-a-job. On both of these sites I learned that the first thing you should do is clean up your profile. Remove any inappropriate photos, comments, and applications that might give someone the wrong impression. The second step is to use Twitter. More and more businesses are beginning to use Twitter and it has now become an ultimate recruitment tool. The third step is linkedln. By using linkedln you increase your number of connections and you can get recommendations. So, by using these tools you can further yourself in the race to finding a job.

Getting Harder

The farther we get into the school year, the harder it is getting. Since everyone is settled the teachers expect more out of you. Therefore, there has been more homework and more tests. It is already hard in school with no extras. However, throw in a sport like volleyball and it makes everything more stressful and exhausting. The hardest thing for me while playing a sport during school is making up missed classes. It is extremely hard to make up work when you have missed a whole class. It is also hard for me stay focused in school. For example, all I can think about right now is making it to the state championships and going to Las Vegas. So, it is hard for me to concentrate in school. So, to focus more, I take my sports adrenaline and translate it into energy for my school work. That is how I get through balancing school and sports.

Blogging Video

Most people do not know that the student part of student athlete is more important.

My Digital Tattoo

A digital tattoo is something personal to you that is stuck online. It can be anything from pictures you post on facebook to a comment you left on someones blog. Not all digital tattoo's can be bad. In some cases they can be good, it just depends what you put online. The scary thing however, is that once it is on line it is nearly impossible to erase, just like a real tattoo.

Luckily with all the theft in the world there are ways to protect your blog. One way is http://pipl.com/, a widely used tool to help people learn ways to protect there accounts. With pipl you can find pretty much anyone you want so it shows you the scary effects of the Internet. Another website that can help you keep your blogs safe is http://digitaltattoo.ubc.ca/. It is a great site that show different ways you can guard and protect your settings. Two other really good sites to protect your information are,  http://www.lostartofblogging.com/ and http://www.catswhoblog.com/.

I believe that blogs are both good and bad. There can be obvious harmful effects form it. For example, people can post harsh comments and people can also find out a lot about you. However, blogs can be great. They can help with classes, they can help other people, and they can also help you get into college or get a job. Having a blog is a good idea as long as you know the harmful effects. So I have learned to protect my identity and not put up anything stupid. Therefore I can be proud of my digital tattoo.
